Personal information disclosed to you during the course of your work is to be treated as confidential and should only be disclosed with the consent of the person concerned, unless an emergency makes it impossible to obtain their consent.
You may only disclose information to those with direct need for information (such as health care professionals, care managers and Managers). Relatives, neighbours and family friends are not necessarily entitled to receive confidential information.
DO NOT leave patient documentation in a place where an unauthorised person could gain access to it. DO NOT discuss your patients/residents in a public place.
