Oliver McGowan Training helps to provide better care
Learning Disability and Autism Training.
The Oliver McGowan training is named after Olver McGowan whose death shone a light on the need for Health and Social Care staff to have better training.
Oliver sadly died at 18 as the staff treating him did not understand Autism and People with a Learning Disability and didn’t listen to him or his family.
The Health & Social Care Act 2022 introduced requirements that all regulated service providers must ensure their staff receive Learning Disability and Autism training appropriate to their role.
The Oliver McGowan training has become mandatory by the requirements made in the Health and Social Care Act 2022, to ensure the awareness and skills needed to provide better care for autistic people and people with a learning disability.
Care Dynamics are delighted to support this, and we ensure all our staff are trained to meet the requirements of the Oliver McGowan training.
Oliver’s mum has campaigned to make the Oliver McGowan training mandatory and been awarded an OBE for her work towards this.
